The Sox hope lighting strikes twice as they will take the 13th overall pick in the 2012 MLB draft. Last time the Sox picked 13th they acquired Chris Sale, who has the lowest ERA in the American league
, second lowest in WHIP, and tied for second with 6 wins.
The White Sox have been criticized by the baseball “experts” so this is the time for the front office to get the farm rolling which was ranked last by ESPN. Now I want to make this straight before I start getting hate mail…Yes the rankings don’t matter and the expert’s opinions don’t matter but I’m just saying.
With the White Sox focusing on Major-league talent, it’s always important to upgrade the farm as well. GM Kenny Williams has a philosophy of win now and he has put a pretty good team on the field most years.
The draft is always a good time to see where your franchise is going and with the 1st pick there are a lot of potential options out there, who knows? Maybe your pick is the next Albert Pujols or Roy Halliday? It would make all baseball fans excited to see what these young players can accomplish.
The Astros have the No. 1 pick in the draft this year as they had the worst record in the league losing more than 100 games. This is Houston’s last year in the NL as they will make the long transition to the American League West division in 2013.
The White Sox have a good core of players this year, particularly veterans. Well.. not to mention Chris Sale, Nate Jones, Addison Read, Dayan Viciedo who have all been major contributor to the club this year and years to come.
This is actually Viciedo’s contract year, He signed a 4-year, $10 million dollar deal way back when. I want to get him locked up for quite a few years, he should be m above average bat with a great throwing arm in Left. His defense has improved tremendously.
Only time will tell when the Sox farm system develops and produces some talented young players.
